It is upon religious scholars and the faithful of every society to attempt to convey the message of their religion and its commandments throughout the world and to fulfill their responsibility regarding the scientific support of religion. This fact is repeatedly referred to in the Holy Quran and Hadith. The present work contains a collection of Quranic verses and hadiths regarding propagation and its related issues, as discussed in religious sources. The work comprises part of the Encyclopedia of Mizan al-Hikmah which is published independently.

In this book, the author, by collecting a series of relevant Quranic verses and hadiths, attempts to contribute to the organization of a movement of propagation within the Islamic system. His method in compiling the present work is

1) to make use of both Shi`ite and Sunni hadiths,

2) if a particular hadith is ascribed both to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Infallibles Imams (PBUT), to include the Prophet's hadith in the main text and to give the references for the Infallibles' hadiths in the footnotes, and

3) in presenting the Quranic verses and hadiths relating to a particular subject, to begin, respectively, with the verses of the Holy Quran, prophetic hadiths, and the hadiths of the Infallibles (PBUT) up to Imam Mahdi in a chronological order.

The author presents a systematic classification of hadiths and offers a clear picture of the status and methodology of propagation as reflected in the words and practices of the religious leaders. The book's topics include the factors contributing to the success of the propagator, the status of propagation and propagators, the mission and responsibilities of propagators, the qualifications of propagators, the identification of interlocutors, the time and place of propagation, the means of propagation, and the rites, problems and consequences and results of propagation. All of the book's discussions are documented based on the Holy Quran, and the practices of the Holy Prophet and Shi`ite Imams (PBUT).

The Persian translation of the work, along with the Arabic text, is published with the following bibliographical data: Propagation in the Holy Quran and Hadith, trans. Ali  Nasiri, Qom: Dar al-Hadith, 1st ed., 2001, 468 pages.
