KAJANG, Feb 21 (Bernama) -- Love for the Quran could be instilled among children through various ways including television animation series, comics and digital information.
With this in mind, KUISCELL Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of the Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS), today signed a memorandum of understanding with Ciku Tree Studio Sdn Bhd to produce a 3D animation series called "Tadika Ustaz Don".
An MoU was also signed with Creative Caliph to produce a digital information product based on the animation series.
Ciku Tree general manager Mohd Rizalmie Sabran said Tadika Ustaz Don would explain the meaning of the verses in the Quran in animation form to attract the attention of children, especially those between three and nine years old.
"The 26-episode animation project is still in the making. It is expected to be shown on television by early next year," he said at a press conference held after the MOU signing ceremony.
The series will depict the world of four children with their teacher, Ustaz Don Daniyal Don Biyajid.
Meanwhile, New Entrepreneurs Foundation (NEF) executive director Ritakamal Sadiman said the series would be marketed by Nuovo Entertainment Sdn Bhd, which is a subsidiary of NEF.
"We are convinced the animation series can be marketed not only in Malaysia, but also in neighbouring countries, like Singapore and Brunei, as Ustaz Don himself has fans there," he said.
NEF is a non-profit organisation set up by the industry with the support of the government to beef up the information and communication technology and creative industries in Malaysia.
