1590 - فَضلُ الكَرَمِ‏

1590. THE VIRTUE OF NOBILITY

5482.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : كَرَمُ الرجُلِ دِينُهُ .2

5482.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'A man's nobility is his religion.' 3

5483.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : إنّ اللَّهَ تَعالى‏ كريمٌ يُحِبُّ الكَرَمَ .4

5483.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Allah, most High is Generous and He loves the generous.' 5

5484.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : نِعمَ الخُلقُ التَّكرُّمُ .6

5484.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Graciousness is of great manners.' 7

1.The word karam in Arabic has a very wide range of meanings, denoting nobility, high-mindedness, generosity, magnanimity, kindness, graciousness, and all other such qualities associated with someone of high birth or excellent lineage. It has been translated in this chapter with the English term best suited to the individual contexts of the traditions (ed.)
