387. SLEEP

1774 - النَّومُ‏

1774. SLEEP

(وَجَعَلْنَا نَوْمَكُمْ سُبَاتاً1) .2

"And [did we not] make your sleep for rest?" 3

(اللَّهُ يَتَوَفَّى الْأَنْفُسَ حِينَ مَوْتِهَا وَالَّتِي لَمْ تَمُتْ فِي مَنَامِهَا فَيُمْسِكُ الَّتِي قَضَى‏ عَلَيْهَا الْمَوْتَ وَيُرْسِلُ الْاُخْرَى‏ إِلَى‏ أَجَلٍ مُسَمّىً إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَآيَاتٍ لِقَوْمٍ يَتَفَكَّرُونَ) .4

"Allah takes the souls at the time of their death, and those that have not died in their sleep. Then he retains those for whom He has ordained death and releases the others until a specified time. There are indeed signs in that for a people who reflect." 5

6279.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : النَّومُ أخُو المَوتِ ، ولا يَموتُ أهلُ الجَنَّةِ .6

6279.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Sleep is the brother of death, and the people of Heaven do not die.' 7

6280.الإمامُ الرِّضا عليه السلام : إنَّ النَّومَ سُلطانُ الدِّماغِ ، وهُو قِوامُ الجَسَدِ وقُوَّتُهُ .8

6280.Imam al-Rida (AS) said, 'Sleep is the sultan of the brain, and it is the foundation of the body and its [source of] strength.' 9

6281.الإمامُ الهادي عليه السلام : السَّهَرُ ألَذُّ لِلمَنامِ .10

6281.Imam al-Hadi (AS) said, 'Staying awake makes sleeping more sweet.' 11

1.السُّبات بالضمّ : أي النوم الثقيل ، وأصله الراحة، ومعناه : جعلنا نومكم راحةً لأبدانكم (مجمع البحرين : ۲ / ۸۰۲) .
