70% Rise in No of Papers Sent to Int’l Quranic Research Conference

The number of papers submitted to the secretariat of this year’s International Quranic Studies Conference has grown by 70 percent compared to the previous edition.

This is according to Hujjatulislam Mohammad Akbari, an official with the organizing committee, who added that the papers are in English, Arabic and Persian.

Scholars from various countries, including Iraq, Britain, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Morocco, Afghanistan and Algeria have submitted their works to the scholarly conference, he stated, Tasnim news agency reported.

Hujjatulislam Akbari added that a committee comprising 40 top university and seminary scholars has been set up to assess the submitted works.

He noted that “Quran and the Revelational Culture” is the main theme of the 9th edition of the conference, and that the subthemes include nature and bases of Islamic culture, deepening of Islamic culture, and Islamic culture and interdisciplinary studies.

The International Quranic Studies Conference is organized on the sidelines of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition.

The competition annually takes place in the lunar month of Rajab by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.

The 32nd edition of the contest will kick off here in Tehran on Friday, May 15.

It will start on the occasion of Mabath (marking anniversary of the day when Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was ordered by Allah to declare his Prophethood to the world) and will run for a week.
