Translator of Quran into Russian to Receive Iran’s Book Award

Nazim Zeynalov, a renowned Russian Islamologist, is one of the winners of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s Book of the Year Award.

He has been selected as one of the award’s winners for his translation of the Holy Quran into Russian.

Zeynalov will receive the award from Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a ceremony to be held on February 10.

Zeynalov is a graduate of Al-Mustafa International University. His rendering is the first Quran translation into Russian by a Shia Muslim.

It took him 5 years to complete the work and the translation is said to be without any denominational prejudices.

The rendering was published by the Tarjoman-e Vahy (Translation of Revelation) Institute in 2015.

The Quran has so far been translated into the Russian language 13 times.
