Large, Exquisite Copy of Quran to Be Unveiled at Tehran Int’l Quran Expo

A large copy of the Holy Quran measuring 170 by 130 cm will be unveiled at the 24th Tehran International Holy Quran Exhibition later this month.

Iranian artist Raeen Akbar Khanzadeh has spent nearly two years to make the copy, which includes all Surahs (chapters) of the Quran calligraphed on two large sheets of silver.

It weighs some 80 kilograms, Akbar Khanzadeh told IQNA, noting that a kilogram of gold has also been used in making the exquisite Quran copy.

He said it has been completed and will be unveiled at a ceremony at the international Quran exhibit.

Akbar Khanzadeh has also made world’s small copy of the Quran engraved on metal.

Like the larger one, it contains all verses of the Quran calligraphed on two sheets of silver measuring 12 by 16cm.

He said the two will be put on display together at the Quran exhibition.

The 24th edition of the international Quran exhibition in Tehran kicked off on Tuesday, the first day of the holy month of Ramadan.

"Towards Understanding the Quran” is the motto of the event, which will be officially launched on the 7th day and continue until the 23rd day of the holy month.

The expo, which is annually held in the Iranian capital during Ramadan, has numerous sections each one dedicated to a certain activity related to the Quran.
