International Quran, Hadith Conference Planned in Indonesia

The 2nd Ulumuna Annual International Conference on the theme of “Islamic Education and the Study of the Quran and Hadith” is planned to be held in Mataram, Indonesia next year.

 

International Conference on Study of the Quran and Hadith to be Held in Indonesia

Ulumuna, journal of Islamic studies published biannually by Indonesia’s State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Mataram, announced its second international conference will be organized on March 11, 2017.

The main theme to be discussed at the international scholarly event is Islamic Education and the Study of the Quran and hadith.

The journal says it accepts submission of original papers based on library or field research. Papers that approach the topics from various disciplines (politics, anthropology, ethnography, religious studies) and employ a comparative perspective (theoretical, geographical) are encouraged. The topics include, but not limited to, the followings:

Islamic Education: Traditional and Modern Islamic Schooling (madrasa/pesantren); Integration and Distinction of Science and Religion at Islamic school; Islamic Multicultural Education, Education and Character Building

The Study of the Quran and Hadith: Living Quran and/or Hadith; Classical, Modern and/or Local Interpretation of the Quran; Science of the Quran and/or Hadith; Western and Muslim Scholars Approaches to the Quran and/or Hadith,

About 10 papers will be accepted and presented in the conference for each topic. They will be published in the journal volume 21 (No. 1&2, June and December 2017). Papers must be in English and not less than 6,000 words or more than 10,000 words.

The deadline of paper submission is January 31, 2017.
