​The World

Love of the world is the origin of every act of disobedience and the beginning of every sin.

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  الدنيا مَزرَعةُ الآخِرَةِ . عوالي اللآلي : 1 / 267 / 66 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The world is the plantation for the Hereafter.' Awali al-La'ali, v. 1, p. 267, no. 66

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  الدنيا ملعونةٌ وملعونٌ ما فيها ، إلّا ما ابتُغِيَ به وَجهُ اللَّهِ عزّوجلّ . كنز العمّال : 6088 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The world is cursed along with what is in it, except that through which the pleasure of Allah is sought.' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 6088

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  أوحَى اللَّهُ تَبارَكَ وَتَعالى‏ إلى الدنيا : اِخْدِمي مَن خَدَمَنِي ، وأتْعِبي مَن خَدَمَكِ . بحار الأنوار : 77 / 54 / 3 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Verily Allah revealed to the world, 'Tire and wear out the one who serves you, and serve the one who serves me you.' Bihar al-Anwar,  v. 77, p. 54, no. 3

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  لا تَسُبُّوا الدنيا فَنِعمَتْ مَطِيَّةُ المؤمنِ ، فعلَيها يَبلُغُ الخيرَ وبها يَنجو مِن الشرِّ ، إنّهُ إذا قالَ العبدُ : لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الدنيا قالَتِ الدُّنيا : لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أعصانا لِرَبِّهِ ! بحار الأنوار : 77 / 178 / 10 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Do not insult the world for it is the best mount for the believer, because by means of it he attains good and through it he is saved from evil. If a servant [of Allah] says: "May Allah curse the world", the world replies: "May Allah curse the most disobedient one towards his Lord from among us!".' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 77, p. 178, no. 10

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  لَيْسَ مِن حُبِّ الدنيا طَلَبُ ما يُصْلِحُكَ . كنز العمّال : 5439 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Searching for what will improve you is not considered love of the world.' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 5439

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  حُبُّ الدنيا أصلُ كلِّ مَعصيَةٍ وأوّلُ كُلِّ ذَنبٍ . تنبيه الخواطر : 2 / 122 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Love of the world is the origin of every act of disobedience and the beginning of every sin.' Tanbih al-Khawatir, v. 2, p. 122

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  أكبَرُ الكبائرِ حُبُّ الدنيا . كنز العمّال : 6074 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The gravest of the grave sins is love of the world.' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 6074

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  الدنيا لا تَصفو لِمُؤمنٍ ، كيفَ وهِي سِجنُهُ وبلاؤهُ ؟! كنز العمّال : 6090 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The world is not trouble-free for the believer, how can it be when it is his prison and his trial?' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 6090

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  لو أنّ الدنيا كانَت تَعدِلُ عند اللَّهِ عزّوجلّ جَناحَ بَعوضَةٍ ما سَقَى الكافِرَ والفاجرَ مِنها شَربَةً مِن ماءٍ . الأمالي للطوسي : 531 / 1162 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'If the world was worth the same as the wing of a mosquito in Allah's eyes, the disbeliever and the insolent person would never get to drink a sip of water from it.' Amali al-Tusi, p. 531, no. 1162

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  يقولُ اللَّهُ : لولا عَبدي المؤمنُ لَعَصَّبْتُ رأسَ الكافِرِ بعِصابةٍ مِن جَوهَرٍ . التمحيص : 47 / 73 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Allah says, 'Were it not for My believing servant, I would have tied a headband of jewels around the head of the disbeliever.' al-Tamhis, p. 47, no. 73

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  مَن أحَبَّ دُنياهُ أضَرَّ بآخرَتِهِ . بحار الأنوار : 73 / 81 / 43 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'He who loves his world has harmed his Hereafter.' Bihar al-Anwar,  v. 73, p. 81, no. 43

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  ما الدنيا في الآخِرَةِ إلّا مِثلُ ما يَجعَلُ أحدُكُم إصبَعَهُ في اليَمِّ فليَنظُرْ بِمَ يَرجِعُ . بحار الأنوار : 73 / 119 / 110 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'This world when compared to the Hereafter is just as if one of you dips his finger in the sea and sees what he comes out with.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 73, p. 119, no. 110

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  الدنيا ساعةٌ فاجعَلوها طاعةً . بحار الأنوار : 77 / 164 / 2 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The world is only an hour [long] so use it in obedience.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 77, p. 164, no. 2
