Speaking

Silence is better than dictatinig the vice (to the angels responsible for recording our deeds) and dictating good deeds is better than silence.

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  مِن فِقهِ الرجُلِ قِلَّةُ كَلامِهِ فيما لا يَعنيهِ . بحار الأنوار : 2 / 55 / 28 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'An intelligent man lessens his speech in things that do not concern him.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 2, p. 55, no. 28

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  إنّ الرجُلَ لَيَدنُو مِن الجَنَّةِ حتّى‏ ما يكونُ بينَهُ وبينَها إلّا قِيدُ رُمحٍ ، فيَتَكلَّمُ بالكَلِمَةِ فَيَتباعَدُ مِنها أبعَدَ مِن صَنعاءَ . الترغيب والترهيب : 3 / 537 / 46 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'A person comes so close to Heaven until there remains only a spear's throw between it and him, and then he says something, thereby distancing him farther away than Sinai.' al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, v. 3, p. 537, no. 46

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : أكثَرُ النّاسِ ذُنوباً أكثَرُهُم كلاماً فيما لا يَعنيهِ . الترغيب والترهيب : 3 / 540 / 51 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The people with the most sins are those who speak the most about things that do not concern them.' al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, v. 3, p. 540, no. 51

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  لا تُكثِرُوا الكلامَ بغيرِ ذِكرِ اللَّهِ ؛ فإنَّ كَثرَةَ الكلامِ بغَيرِ ذِكرِ اللَّهِ قَسوَةُ القَلبِ، إنّ أبعَدَ النّاسِ مِن اللَّهِ القَلبُ القاسي . الأمالي للطوسي : 3 / 1 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Do not speak a lot without the remembrance of Allah, for excessive speech without the remembrance of Allah hardens the heart. The farthest of people away from Allah are the hard-hearted.' Amali al-Tusi, p. 3, no. 1

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  السُّكوتُ خَيرٌ مِن إملاءِ الشَّرِّ ، وإملاءُ الخَيرِ خَيرٌ مِن السُّكوتِ . بحار الأنوار : 71 / 294 / 64 .

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : أحسَنُ الكلامِ كلامُ اللَّهِ . سنن النسائي : 3 / 58 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The best of speech is the speech of Allah.' Sunan al-Nasa'i, v. 3, p. 58
