Sight

Looking at three things is worship: looking at the faces of one's parents, at the Book [Quran], and at the sea.

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  إيّاكُم وفُضولَ النَّظَرِ ؛ فإنَّهُ يَبذُرُ الهوى‏ ، ويُوَلِّدُ الغَفلَةَ . بحار الأنوار : 72 / 199 / 29 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Beware of futile gazes for they introduce lustful inclinations and produce inattentiveness.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 72, p. 199, no. 29

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  النَّظَرُ في ثَلاثَةِ أشياءَ عِبادَةٌ : النَّظَرُ في وَجهِ الوالِدَينِ ، وفي المُصحَفِ ، وفي البَحرِ . صحيفة الإمام الرِّضا : 90 / 19 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Looking at three things is worship: looking at the faces of one's parents, at the Book [Qur'an], and at the sea.' Sahifa al-Imam al-Rida, p. 90, no. 19

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  النَّظَرُ إلَى العالِمِ عِبادَةٌ ، والنَّظَرُ إلَى الإمامِ المُقسِطِ عِبادَةٌ ، والنَّظَرُ إلَى الوالِدَينِ بِرأفَةٍ ورَحمَةٍ عِبادَةٌ ، والنَّظَرُ إلَى الأخِ تَوَدُّهُ في اللَّهِ عَزَّوجلَّ عِبادَةٌ . بحار الأنوار : 74 / 73 / 59 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Looking at a scholar is worship, looking at a just leader is worship, looking at one's parents with affection and mercy is worship, and looking at a brother you love for the sake of Allah is worship.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 74, p. 73, no. 59

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  مَن مَلأَ عَينَهُ مِن حَرامٍ مَلأَ اللَّهُ عَينَهُ يَومَ القِيامَةِ مِن النّارِ ، إلّا أن يَتوبَ ويَرجِعَ . بحار الأنوار : 76 / 334 / 1 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Whoever fills his gaze with what is prohibited, Allah will fill his eyes with fire on the Day of Judgment, unless he repents and returns.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 76, p. 334, no. 1

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  غُضُّوا أبصارَكُم تَرَونَ العَجائبَ . بحار الأنوار : 104 / 41 / 52 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Lower your gazes [from the forbidden] and you will see wonders.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 104, p. 41, no. 52

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  لِكُلِّ عُضوٍ مِن ابنِ آدمَ حَظٌّ مِن الزِّنا : العَينُ زِناها النَّظَرُ . جامع الأخبار : 408 / 1129 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Every limb of man has a part in adultery: the adultery of the eye is looking [unlawfully].' Jami al-Akhbar, p. 408, no. 1129

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  اِشتَدَّ غَضَبُ اللَّهِ عَزَّوجلَّ علَى امرأةٍ ذاتِ بَعلٍ مَلأت عَينَها مِن غَيرِ زَوجِها أو غَيرِ ذِي مَحرَمٍ مِنها . ثواب‏الأعمال : 338 / 1 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The anger of Allah is intensified towards a married woman who fills her eyes with [lust for] someone other than her husband and other than those of her blood relatives [mahram].' Thawab al-A'mal, p. 338, no. 1

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : يا عليُّ، لكَ أوّلُ نَظرَةٍ ، والثّانِيَةُ علَيكَ ولا لَكَ . كتاب من لا يحضره الفقيه : 4 / 19 / 4971 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said to Ali (AS), 'O Ali, you are allowed the first glance, but the second is against you, not in your favour.' al-Faqih, v. ,4 p. 19, no. 4971
