Shia studies International conference scheduled in Berlin

The second edition of a Shia studies international conference in Germany titled Science, Ethics and Art in Shia World with a Focus on Medina is planned to be held on October 19-20 in Berlin.

According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Germany, the international program will also mark the establishment anniversary of the first Specialized Shia Library in Europe by Professor Abdul Javad Falatouri, Iranian philosophy scholar and founder of Hamburg Faculty of Islamic Sciences.

Those willing to participate at the conference are required to send abstracts of their papers to the Iranian Cultural Center in Berlin by May 30.

The papers should be written in maximum 300 words, in English, German or Arabic.

Some of the themes of the program include the relation between Shiism and the city of Medina, Shia Seminary in Medina in the early Islamic period, the relation of Shia Imams (AS) with pilgrims, the citizens of Medina, the spread of scientific, philosophical, theological and jurisprudential thoughts through the pilgrims of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) shrine, the heritage of Shia identity in Medina focusing on Baqi’ cemetery and art, including architecture and literature, among Shias residing in Medina.
