1161 - فَضلُ الصَّومِ فِي الحَرِّ والشِّتاءِ

1161. THE VIRTUE OF FASTING IN HOT AND COLD WEATHER

3730.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : الصَّومُ في الشِّتاءِ الغَنيمَةُ البارِدَةُ .¹

3730.The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Fasting in cold weather is an easy thing to do.’²

3731.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : أفضَلُ الجِهادِ الصَّومُ في الحَرِّ .³

3731.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘The best jihad is fasting in hot weather.’⁴

3732.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : الشِّتاءُ رَبِيعُ المُؤمِنِ، يَطُولُ فيهِ لَيلُهُ فَيَستَعِينُ بهِ على‏ قِيامِهِ، ويَقصُرُ فيهِ نَهارُهُ فَيَستَعِينُ بهِ على‏ صِيامِهِ .⁵

3732.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, ‘Winter is the springtime of a believer – its nights are long, so he can make use of them to stand in prayer, whereas its days are short and he can make use of them to fast.’⁶
