1589 - استِماعُ الكِذبِ‏

1589. LISTENING TO A LIE

(وَمِنَ الَّذِينَ هادُوا سَمَّاعُونَ لِلْكَذِبِ) .1

"And the Jews who eavesdrop with the aim of [telling] lies [against you]." 2

5480.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : لا تُمَكِّنِ الغُواةَ مِن سَمعِكَ .3

5480.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Do not give your hearing [i.e. attention] to those who have gone astray.' 4

5481.بحار الأنوار : سُئلَ الصّادقُ عليه السلام عنِ القُصّاصِ : أيَحِلُّ الاستِماعُ لَهُم ؟ فقالَ : لا ، وقالَ عليه السلام: مَن أصغى‏ إلى‏ ناطِقٍ فَقَد عَبَدَهُ ، فإن كانَ النّاطِقَ عن اللَّهِ فقد عَبَدَ اللَّهَ ، وإن كانَ النّاطِقَ عن إبليسَ فقد عَبَدَ إبليسَ .5

5481. It is narrated in Bihar al-Anwar: Imam al-Sadiq (AS) was asked about storytellers and whether it is permitted to listen to them?' He said, 'No', and he (AS) said, 'Whoever listens to a speaker worships him. But if he speaks about Allah [and anything associated], then it is as if he is worshipping Allah, and if he speaks from or about Satan [and anything associated with him], then it is as if he is worshipping Satan.' 6
