255. OBEDIENCE

1189 - طاعَةُ اللَّهِ وآثارُها

1189. OBEDIENCE TO ALLAH AND ITS EFFECTS

(يا أَيُّها الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا أَطِيعُوا اللَّهَ وَأَطِيعُوا الرَّسُولَ وَأُولِي الْأَمْرِ مِنْكُمْ).¹

“O you who have faith! Obey Allah and obey the Apostle and those vested with authority among you.”²

3831.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : إنّهُ لا يُدرَكُ ما عِندَ اللَّهِ إلّا بطاعَتِهِ .³

3831.The Prophet (SAWA) said, ‘Verily what is with Allah can only ever be attained through His obedience.’⁴

3832.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : طاعَةُ اللَّهِ مِفتاحُ كُلِّ سَدادٍ، وصَلاحُ كُلِّ فَسادٍ .⁵

3832.Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Obedience to Allah is the key to every efficient matter and the redressing of every immoral act.’⁶

3833.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : أجدَرُ الناسِ برَحمَةِ اللَّهِ أقوَمُهُم بالطّاعَةِ .⁷

3833.Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘The person most worthy of Allah’s mercy is the one most diligent in Allah’s obedience.’⁸

3834.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : علَيكُم بطاعَةِ مَن لا تُعذَرُونَ بجَهالَتِهِ .⁹

3834.Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘It is incumbent upon you to obey the One whom you hold no excuse to remain ignorant of.’¹⁰

3835.الإمامُ الهاديُّ عليه السلام : مَن أطاعَ الخالِقَ لَم يُبالِ بسَخَطِ المَخلوقِ .¹¹

3835.Imam al-Hadi (AS) said, ‘He who obeys the Creator is not bothered by the displeasure of the creation [i.e. other people].’¹²

1188 - الطَّهارَةُ المَعنَوِيَّةُ

1188. SPIRITUAL PURITY

(إِنَّما يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ لِيُذْهِبَ عَنْكُمُ الرِّجْسَ أَهْلَ البَيْتِ وَيُطَهِّرَكُمْ تَطْهِيراً).¹

“Indeed Allah desires to repel all impurity from you, O People of the Household, and purify you with a thorough purification.”²

(خُذْ مِنْ أَمْوالِهِمْ صَدَقَةً تُطَهِّرُهُمْ وَتُزَكِّيهِمْ بِها وَصَلِّ عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ صَلَاتَكَ سَكَنٌ لَهُمْ وَاللَّهُ سَمِيعٌ عَلِيمٌ).³

“Take charity from their possessions to cleanse them and purify them thereby, and bless them. Indeed your blessing is a comfort to them, and Allah is all-hearing, all-knowing.”⁴

3828.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : فَرَضَ اللَّهُ الإيمانَ تَطهيراً مِن الشِّركِ .⁵

3828.Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Allah has obligated faith in order to purify one from polytheism.’⁶

3829.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : إنَّ تَقوَى اللَّهِ دَواءُ داءِ قُلوبِكُم ... وطَهُورُ دَنَسِ أنفُسِكُم .⁷

3829.Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Verily being wary of one’s duty to Allah is the remedy for the disease of your hearts … and the purifier of the pollution in your souls.’⁸

3830.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : إن كُنتُم لا مَحالَةَ مُتَطَهِّرِينَ فَتَطَهَّرُوا مِن دَنَسِ العُيوبِ والذُّنوبِ .⁹

3830.Imam Ali (AS) said, ‘Since you have no choice but to purify your bodies, then make a point of purifying yourselves of your faults and your sins.’¹⁰
