1821 - ثَمَرَةُ الوَرَعِ‏

1821. THE FRUIT OF PIETY

6473.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : ثَمَرَةُ الوَرَعِ صَلاحُ النَّفسِ والدِّينِ .¹

6473.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'The fruit of piety is the goodness of one's self and one's religion.' ²

6474.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ يحجِزُ عَنِ ارْتِكابِ المَحارِمِ .³

6474.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Piety prevents from committing prohibited acts.' ⁴

6475.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ أساسُ التَّقوى‏ .⁵

6475.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Abstaining [from sins] is the foundation of piety.' ⁶

6476.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : لا يَزكو العِلمُ بغَيرِ وَرَعٍ .⁷

6476.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Knowledge cannot be developed and purified without piety.' ⁸

6477.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : اِتَّقُوا اللَّهَ وصُونوا دِينَكُم بِالوَرَعِ .⁹

6477.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'Fear Allah and safeguard your faith with piety.' ¹⁰

1820 - فَضلُ الوَرَعِ‏

1820. THE VIRTUE OF PIETY

6464.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :لكلِّ شَي‏ءٍ اُسٌّ ، واُسُّ الإيمانِ الوَرَعُ .¹

6464.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'For everything there is a basis, and the basis of faith is piety.' ²

6465.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : مِلاكُ الدِّينِ الوَرَعُ .³

6465.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The criterion of religion is piety.' ⁴

6466.رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : أفضَلُ دِينِكُمُ الوَرَعُ .⁵

6466.The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The best act in your religion is piety.' ⁶

6467.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : لامَعقِلَ أحسَنُ مِن الوَرَعِ .⁷

6467.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'There is no stronghold better than piety.' ⁸

6468.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : الوَرَعُ جُنَّةٌ .⁹

6468.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Piety is a shield.' ¹⁰

6469.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : مَن أحَبَّنا فلْيَعمَلْ بعَمَلِنا ولْيَستَعِنْ بِالوَرَعِ؛ فإنّهُ أفضَلُ‏ما يُستَعانُ بهِ في أمرِالدُّنيا والآخِرَةِ .¹¹

6469.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'He who loves us should do as we do, and seek assistance in piety; for it is the best assistance in matters of this world and the Hereafter.' ¹²

6470.الإمامُ الباقرُ عليه السلام : إنّ أشَدَ العِبادَةِ الوَرَعُ .¹³

6470.Imam al-Baqir (AS) said, 'The hardest of worship is piety.' ¹⁴

6471.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : علَيكُم بِالوَرَعِ ؛ فإنّهُ الدِّينُ الّذي نُلازِمُهُ ، ونَدينُ اللَّهَ بِهِ ، ونُريدُهُ مِمَّن يُوالِينا .¹⁵

6471.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'You must have piety; for it is the religion that we adhere to, and with which we devote ourselves to Allah, and we require it from those who accept our guardianship.' ¹⁶

6472.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : لَيسَ مِنّا - ولا كَرامَةَ - مَن كانِ فِي مِصرٍ فيهِ مِائةُ ألفٍ أو يَزيدونَ ، وكانَ في ذلكَ المِصرِ أحَدٌ أورَعَ مِنهُ .¹⁷

6472.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'He who lives in a place with a population of one hundred thousand or more and there is in that place someone more pious than him, then he is not [considered] one of us.' ¹⁸
