​The Sitting and the Assembly

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  إنّ لكُلِّ شي‏ءٍ شَرَفاً وإنَّ أشْرَفَ المَجالسِ ما استُقْبِلَ بهِ القِبلةُ . _{بحار الأنوار : 75 / 469 / 4 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'There is an honour for everything, and the most honoured seating is the one that faces the Qibla (the direction of Makkah).' _{Bihar al-Anwar, v. 75, p. 469, no. 4}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  لا تُفْحِشْ في‏مَجلسِكَ لِكَي‏يَحْذَروكَ بسُوءِ خلقِكَ ، ولا تَناجَ مَع رجُلٍ وأنتَ معَ آخرَ . _{بحار الأنوار : 84 / 354 / 2 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'Do not be obscene in your council and meeting lest people avoid you for your bad behavior; and do not whisper with a man when you are with another.' _{Bihar al-Anwar, v. 84, p. 354, no. 2}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  المَجالسُ بالأمانةِ ، وإفْشاءُ سِرِّ أخيكَ خِيانَةٌ ، فاجْتَنِبْ ذلكَ . _{بحار الأنوار : 77 / 89 / 3 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'Observe trustworthiness in assemblies, and exposing your brother's secret [therein] is betrayal, therefore avoid it.' _{Bihar al-Anwar, v. 77, p. 89, no. 3}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  المَجالِسُ ثلاثةٌ : غانِمٌ وسالِمٌ وشاحِبٌ‏  ، فأمّا الغانمُ فالّذي يُذكَرُ اللَّهُ تعالى‏ فيهِ، وأمّا السّالمُ فالسّاكِتُ ، وأمّا الشّاحِبُ فالّذي يَخوضُ في الباطلِ . _{بحار الأنوار : 74 / 189 / 18 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'Assemblies are of three kinds: profitable, safe, and blameworthy. The profitable one is that wherein Allah, the Exalted, is remembered; the safe one is that which is silent; and the blameworthy one is the one that engages in vice.' _{Bihar al-Anwar, v. 74 p. 189 no. 18}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  إرْتَعوا في رياضِ الجنّةِ . قالوا : يا رسولَ اللَّهِ،وما رِياضُ الجنّةِ ؟ قالَ : مَجالِسُ الذِّكرِ . _{بحار الأنوار : 93 / 163 / 42 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'Stay long in the gardens of Heaven.' They asked, 'O Messenger of Allah! What are the gardens of Heaven?' He said, 'Gatherings where Allah is remembered [dhikr sessions].' _{Bihar al-Anwar,  v. 93, p. 163, no. 42}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  إنّ كَفّارَةَ المَجلسِ : سُبحانَكَ اللّهمَّ وبحَمْدِكَ لا إلهَ إلّا أنتَ ، ربِّ تُبْ علَيَّ واغفِرْ لي . _{بحار الأنوار : 75 / 467 / 17 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'The expiation (kaffara) for sitting in assemblies is to say, 'Glory be to You, O Allah, and Praise be to You; there is no God but You. O Lord! Forgive me and accept my repentance.' _{Bihar al-Anwar, v. 75, p. 467, no. 17}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  تَمَسْكَنوا وأحِبُّوا المَساكِينَ، وجالِسُوهُم وأعِينوهُم ، تَجافَوا صُحْبَةَ الأغْنياءِ وارْحَموهُم وعِفّوا عن أمْوالِهِم . _{تنبيه الخواطر : 2 / 120 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'Feign poverty and love the poor; sit with them and help them, and shun the companionship of the rich and be kind to them and covet not their wealth.' _{Tanbih al-Khawatir, v. 2, p. 120}

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  لا تَجْلِسوا إلّا عندَ كُلِّ عالِمٍ‏يَدْعوكُم مِن خَمْسٍ إلى‏ خَمسٍ : مِن الشَّكِّ إلى‏ اليَقينِ ، ومِن الرِّياءِ إلى‏ الإخْلاصِ ، ومِن الرَّغْبَةِ إلى‏ الرَّهبَةِ ، ومِن الكِبْرِ إلى‏ التّواضُعِ ، ومِن الغِشِّ إلى‏ النّصيحَةِ . _{بحار الأنوار : 74 / 188 / 18 .}

 ^{The Prophet (SAWA) said,} 'Do not sit but with every scholar who calls you from five states to five states: from doubt to certainty, from hypocrisy to sincerity, from desire to fear [of Allah], from arrogance to humility, and from deceit to advising.' _{Bihar al-Anwar, v. 74, p. 188, no. 18}
