The Tongue

The safety of a person lies in guarding his tongue.

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  الجَمالُ في اللِّسانِ . تحف العقول : 37 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Beauty is in the tongue.' Tuhaf al-Uqul, no. 37

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  ذَلاقَةُ اللِّسانِ رأسُ المالِ . جامع الأخبار : 247 / 631 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Eloquence of the tongue is a person's capital.' Jami al-Akhbar, p. 247, no. 631

 رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  سَلامَةُ الإنسانِ في حِفظِ اللِّسانِ . بحار الأنوار : 71 / 286 / 42 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The safety of a person lies in guarding his tongue.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 71, p. 286, no. 42

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  لا يَسلَمُ أحَدٌ مِن الذُّنوبِ حتّى‏ يَخزُنَ لِسانَهُ . تحف العقول : 298 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'No person will be safe from sins until he guards his tongue.' Tuhaf al-Uqul, p. 298

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  إذا أصبَحَ ابنُ آدمَ فإنّ الأعضاءَ كُلَّها تُكَفِّرُ اللِّسانَ ، فتَقولُ : اِتَّقِ اللَّهَ فِينا فإنّما نَحنُ بِكَ؛ فإنِ استَقَمتَ استَقَمنا ، وإنِ اعوَجَجْتَ اعوَجَجْنا . سنن الترمذي : 4 / 605 / 2407 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'When a person wakes up in the morning his body parts will plead to the tongue, saying, 'Fear Allah for us, as we depend on you; if you are steadfast we are steadfast, and if you are crooked we are crooked.' Sahih al-Tirmidhi, no. 2407

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  أمسِكْ لِسانَكَ ؛ فإنّها صَدَقَةٌ تَصَّدَّقُ بها على‏ نَفسِكَ . الكافي : 2 / 114 / 7 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Hold your tongue, for it is a charity that you donate to yourself.' al-Kafi, v. 2, p. 114, no. 7

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : بَلاءُ الإنسانِ مِن اللِّسانِ . بحار الأنوار : 71 / 286 / 42 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The calamity of a person is from his own tongue.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 71, p. 286, no. 42

 رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  ما عَمِلَ مَن لَم يَحفَظْ لِسانَهُ. بحار الأنوار : 77 / 85 / 3 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'He who does not guard his tongue has not performed any actions.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 77, p. 85, no. 3
