Sickness

The one who visits the sick dives into [divine] mercy.

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : لا يَمرَضُ مؤمنٌ ولا مؤمنةٌ ولا مسلمٌ ولا مسلمةٌ إلّا حَطَّ اللَّهُ بهِ خَطيئتَهُ . الترغيب والترهيب : 4 / 292 / 55 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'No believer and Muslim - man or woman - fall sick except that Allah will wipe out their sins.' al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, v. 4, p. 292, no. 55

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله : المَريضُ تَحاتُّ خَطاياهُ كَما يَتَحاتُّ وَرَقُ الشَّجَرِ . الترغيب والترهيب : 4 / 292 / 56 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The wrongdoings of a sick person shed away from him like the shedding of leaves from a tree.' al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, v. 4, p. 293, no. 56

 رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  قالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّوجلَّ : مَن مَرِضَ ثلاثاً فلَم يَشكُ إلى‏ أحَدٍ مِن عُوّادِهِ أبدَلتُهُ لَحماً خَيراً مِن لَحمِهِ ودَماً خَيراً مِن دَمهِ، فإن عافَيتُهُ عافَيتُهُ ولا ذَنبَ لَهُ، وإن قَبَضتُهُ قَبَضتُهُ إلى‏ رَحمَتي . الكافي : 3 / 115 / 1 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Allah Almighty has said, 'Whoever becomes sick three times and does not complain to any of his visitors, I change his flesh to flesh better than what he has and blood better than his blood. If I cure him, then I will cure him and he will have no sin, and if I take him [in death], I will take him to My Mercy.' al-Kafi, v. 3, p. 115, no. 1

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  مِن كُنوزِ البِرِّ : كِتمانُ المَصائبِ ، والأمراضِ ، والصَّدَقَةِ . الدعوات : 167 / 462 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'From among the treasures of righteousness are: concealing one's tragedies, sicknesses and charity.' al-Daawat, p. 167, no. 462

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  كَفى‏ بالسَّلامَةِ داءً . تنبيه الخواطر : 2 / 7 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Continuous health suffices as an ailment.' Tanbih al-Khawatir, v. 2, p. 7

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  إنّ اللَّهَ يُبغِضُ العِفرِيَةَ النِّفرِيَةَ الّذي لَم يُرزَأ في جِسمِهِ ولا مالهِ . الدعوات: 172 / 482 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Indeed Allah hates a wicked evil person who does not endure any harm in his body or his wealth.' al-Daawat, p. 172, no. 482

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  عائدُ المَريضِ يَخوضُ في الرَّحمَةِ . كنز العمّال : 25141 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'The one who visits the sick dives into [divine] mercy.' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 25141

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  إنَّ اللَّه عَزَّوجلَّ يقولُ يَومَ القِيامَةِ : يابنَ آدمَ، مَرِضتُ فلَم تَعُدْني ! قالَ: ياربِّ، كيفَ أعودُكَ وأنتَ رَبُّ العالَمينَ ؟! قالَ: أما عَلِمتَ أنّ عَبديَ فُلاناً مَرِضَ فلَم تَعُدْهُ ؟ ! أما عَلِمتَ أنّكَ لَو عُدتَهُ لَوَجَدتَني عِندَهُ ؟ ! الترغيب والترهيب : 4 / 317 / 3 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Allah Almighty will say on the Day of Resurrection , 'O son of Adam, I became sick and you did not visit Me!' and he will ask, 'O Lord, how can I visit You when You are the Lord of the worlds?' He Almighty will say, 'Did you not know that My servant so and so became sick and you did not visit him?! Did you not know that if you had visited him you would have found Me there with him [visiting a sick person is as visiting Allah]?!' al-Targhib wa al-Tarhib, v. 4, p. 317, no. 3

رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :  عُودوا المَريضَ واتبَعوا الجَنازَةَ يُذَكِّرْكُم الآخِرَةَ . كنز العمّال : 25143 .

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Visit the sick and attend funerals, they will remind you of the Hereafter.' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 25143
