Sleep

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  النَّومُ أخُو المَوتِ ، ولا يَموتُ أهلُ الجَنَّةِ . _{كنز العمّال : 39321 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Sleep is the brother of death, and the people of Heaven do not die.' Kanz al-Ummal, no. 39321

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  إيّاكُم وكَثرَةَ النَّومِ ؛ فإنَّ كَثرَةَ النَّومِ يَدَعُ صاحِبَهُ فَقيراً يَومَ القِيامَةِ . _{الاختصاص : 218 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Beware of too much sleep, for excessive sleep will render one poor on the Day of Judgment.' al-Ikhtisas, p. 218

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  لا يَبيتَنَّ أحَدُكُم ويَدُهُ غَمرَةٌ ، فإن فَعَلَ فأصابَهُ لَمَمٌ لِلشَّيطانِ فلا يَلُومَنَّ إلّا نَفسَهُ . _{الأمالي للصدوق : 510 / 707 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'None of you should go to sleep with unclean hands, for if he does and is stricken with mental derangement from Satan [as a result] then he has only himself to blame.' Amali al-Saduq, p. 345, no. 1

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  مَن نامَ علَى الوُضوءِ إن أدرَكَهُ المَوتُ في لَيلِهِ فهُو عِندَ اللَّهِ شَهيدٌ . _{بحار الأنوار : 76 / 183 / 7 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Whoever sleeps with ablution [wudu?] and dies in his sleep is regarded by Allah as a martyr.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 76, p. 183, no. 7

 ^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :} مَن قَرَأَ (قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أحَدٌ) حِينَ يأخُذُ مَضجَعَهُ ، غَفَرَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وجَلَّ لَهُ ذُنوبَ خَمسينَ سَنَةً . _{الأمالي للصدوق : 64 / 27 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Whoever recites the chapter of the Qur'an entitled al-Ikhlas when he retires to his bed, Allah will forgive fifty years of his sins.' Amali al-Saduq, p. 22, no. 3

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  إذا آوى‏ أحَدُكُم إلى‏ فِراشِهِ ... لِيَقُلْ : اللّهُمّ إن أمسَكتَ نَفسي في مَنامي فاغفِرْ لَها ، وإن أرسَلتَها فاحفَظْها بما تَحفَظُ بهِ عِبادَكَ الصّالِحينَ . _{علل‏الشرائع : 589 / 34 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'When any of you retires to his bed ... he should say: O Allah, if You take my soul while I am sleeping then forgive it, and if You send it back to me, then protect it as You protect Your righteous servants.' Ilal al-Shara'i, p. 589, no. 34

^{رسولُ اللَّهِ صلى اللَّه عليه وآله :}  مَن قَرأَ (ألْهاكُمُ التَّكاثُرُ) عِندَ مَنامِهِ وُقِيَ فِتنَةَ القَبرِ . _{بحار الأنوار : 76 / 196 / 12 .}

 The Prophet (SAWA) said, 'Whoever recites the chapter of the Qur'an entitled al-Takathur when going to sleep will be protected from the trials of the grave.' Bihar al-Anwar, v. 76, p. 196, no. 12
