رَحِمَ اللهُ عَبْداً سَمِعَ حُكْماً فَوَعَى
May Allah bless whoever listens to a point of wisdom and retains it,
وَدُعِيَ إِلَى رَشَادٍ فَدَنَا
when he is invited to the right path he approaches it,
وَأَخَذَ بِحُجْزَةِ هَادٍ فَنَجَا،
he follows a leader (by catching his waist band) and finds salvation,
رَاقَبَ رَبِّهُ،
keeps Allah before his eyes
وَخَافَ ذَنْبَهُ،
and fears his sins,
قَدَّمَ خَالِصاً،
performs actions sincerely
وَعَمِلَ صَالِحاً،
and acts virtuously,
اكْتَسَبَ مَذْخُوراً
earns treasure of heavenly rewards,
وَاجْتَنَبَ مَحْذُوراً،
avoids vice,
رَمَى غَرَضاً،
aims at (good) objectives
وَأَحْرَزَ عِوَضاً،
and reaps recompense,
كابَرَ هَوَاهُ،
faces his desires
وَكَذَّبَ مُناهُ،
and rejects (fake) hopes,
جَعَلَ الصَّبْرَ مَطِيَّةَ نَجَاتِهِ،
makes endurance the means to his salvation
والتَّقْوَى عُدَّةَ وَفَاتِهِ،
and piety the provision for his death,
رَكِبَ الطَّرِيقَةَ الْغَرَّاءَ
rides on the path of honour
وَلَزِمَ الْمحَجَّةَ الْبَيْضَاءَ،
and sticks to the highway of truth,
اغْتَنَمَ الْمَهَلَ
makes good use of his time
وَبَادَرَ الاْجَلَ،
and hastens towards the end
وَتَزَوَّدَ مِنَ الْعَمَلِ.
and takes with him the provision of (good) actions.
