Sermon 117: You spent no wealth ...

Rebuking Misers

فَلاَ أَمْوَالَ بَذَلْتموهَا لِلَّذِي رَزَقَهَا،

You spend no wealth in the cause of Him Who gave it,

وَلاَ أَنْفُسَ خَاطَرْتُمْ بِهَا لِلَّذِي خَلَقَهَا،

nor do you risk your lives for the sake of Him Who created them.

تَكْرُمُونَ بِاللهِ عَلَى عِبَادِهِ،

You enjoy honour through Allah among His creatures,

وَلاَ تُكْرِمُونَ اللهَ فِي عِبَادِهِ!

but you do not honour Allah among His creatures.

فَاعْتَبِرُوا بِنُزُولِكُمْ مَنَازِلَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ،

You should derive lessons from your occupying the places of those who were before you

وَانْقِطَاعِكُمْ عَنْ أَصْلِ إِخْوَانِكُمْ!

and from the departure of your nearest brothers.
