أَمَّا بَعْدُ، فَإِنَّ الدُّنْيَا مَشْغَلَةٌ عَنْ غَيْرِهَا،
So now, this world turns away from the next one.
وَلَمْ يُصِبْ صَاحِبُهَا مِنْهَا شَيْئاً إِلاَّ فَتَحَتْ لَهُ حِرْصاً عَلَيْهَا،
He who is devoted to it achieves nothing from it except that it increases his greed
وَلَهَجاً بِهَا،
and coveting for it.
وَلَنْ يَسْتَغْنِيَ صَاحِبُهَا بِمَا نَالَ فِيهَا عَمَّا لَمْ يَبْلُغْهُ مِنْهَا،
He who is devoted to it is not satisfied with what he gets from it because of what he has not got.
وَمِنْ وَرَاءِ ذلِكَ فِرَاقُ مَا جَمَعَ،
Eventually, there is separation from what has been amassed,
وَنَقْضُ مَا أَبْرَمَ!
and a breaking of what has been strengthened.
لَوِ اعْتَبَرْتَ بِمَا مَضَى حَفِظْتَ مَا بَقِيَ،
If you take a lesson from the past you can be safe in the future;
وَالسَّلاَمُ.
and that is an end to the matter.
