213 - التّحذِيرُ عَنِ البُخلِ‏

213. Warning Against Miserliness

(الَّذِينَ يَبْخَلُونَ وَيَأْمُرُونَ النّاسَ بِالْبُخْلِ وَيَكْتُمُونَ ما آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ وَأَعْتَدْنا لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَذَاباً مُهِيناً) .1

"Those who are stingy and bid [other] people to be stingy, and conceal whatever Allah has given them out of His grace; and We have prepared for the faithless a humiliating punishment." 2

(ها أَنْتُمْ هؤُلاءِ تُدْعَوْنَ لِتُنْفِقُوا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فَمِنْكُمْ مَنْ يَبْخَلُ وَمَنْ يَبْخَلْ فَإنَّما يَبْخَلُ عَنْ نَفْسِهِ وَاللَّهُ الْغَنِيُّ وَأَنْتُمُ الْفُقَرَاءُ وَإِنْ تَتَوَلَّوْا يَسْتَبْدِلْ قَوْماً غَيْرَكُمْ ثُمَّ لا يَكُونُوا أَمْثَالَكُمْ) .3

"Ah! There you are, being invited to spend in the way of Allah; yet among you there are those who are stingy; and whoever is stingy is stingy only to himself. Allah is the All-sufficient, and you are all-needy, and if you turn away He will replace you with another people, and they will not be like you." 4

709.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : البُخْلُ جامعٌ لِمَساوئِ العُيوبِ، وهُو زِمامٌ يُقادُ بهِ إلى‏ كلِّ سُوءٍ .5

709.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Miserliness encompasses all vices, and it is a rein with which one is led to every defect.' 6

710.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام: البُخلُ عارٌ .7

710.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Miserliness is [a source of] shame.' 8

711.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام: البُخلُ جِلْبابُ المَسْكَنَةِ .9

711.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Miserliness is the garment of wretchedness.' 10

712.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام: البُخلُ بالموجودِ سُوءُ الظَّنِّ بالمَعبودِ .11

712.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Miserliness in giving [to others] what is at hand is a mistrust in God.' 12

713.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام: مَن بَخِلَ بمالِهِ ذَلَّ، مَن بَخِلَ بِدينِهِ جَلَّ .13

713.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'A man who is miserly with his money will face humiliation, but a man who is miserly with his faith [i.e. he does not readily give it up] will be dignified.' 14

714.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام: البُخلُ يُذِلُّ مُصاحِبَهُ ، ويُعِزُّ مُجانِبَهُ .15

714.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Miserliness humiliates its companion and honours the one who abandons it.' 16

715.الإمامُ الرِّضا عليه السلام : البُخلُ يُمَزِّقُ العِرْضَ .17

715.Imam al-Rida (AS) said, 'Miserliness rips one's honour apart.' 18

716.الإمامُ الهاديُّ عليه السلام : البُخلُ أذَمُّ الأخلاقِ .19

716.Imam al-Hadi (AS) said, 'Miserliness is the most blameworthy vice.' 20
