Speaking to IQNA, Masoud Nikdasti, winner of the first rank at the competition’s 27th edition in the category of recitation, added that Iran’s international Quran contest is the largest Quranic event in the Muslim world

He noted that competitions also help to upgrade the skills of Quran memorizers and reciters.

"When one knows he has rivals, he would make efforts to elevate the level of his performance and his skills," Nikdasti stated.

Elsewhere in his remarks, the Iranian Quran reciter pointed to the transparency in the judgment procedures in Iran’s Quranic contest and said different skills of the participants in areas like Tajweed, Tarteel, Sowt, etc, are assessed by the judges based on clear criteria.

The 31st edition of Irans most important Quranic event, International Quran Competition, is set to start in the capital city of Tehran on May 26.

Reciters and memorizers from over 65 countries have signed up to participate in the upcoming competition in Tehran.

Nine committees have been launched to hold the event. They will also manage various activities scheduled for this year’s competition dubbed “Quran and Islamic lifestyle”.

A committee of 15 jurors including 5 Iranian and 10 foreign masters will judge the competition.

The annual competition is held to encourage the public to read the Holy Quran and to act upon the teachings of the Holy Quran.
