Different factors caused the development of hadith school of Neyshabur in different scientific, cultural, social, and political fields. The most important of them are: numerous mosques and religious schools, rich and useful libraries, appropriate climate, flourishing conditions, Imam Reda's arrival into it in 200 A.H., heed paid by rulers and governors of different dynasties of this city and its scholars, and movements with different religious and theological directions.
The most important characteristics of this hadith school are: unique abundance of hadith scholars and reporters, compilation of some of the most important and valuable hadith collections in the field of sunni hadith, compilation of a variety of hadith books in different topics, prominent and noteworthy hadith scholars in the world of Islam, big efforts to protect hadith against mistakes and misrepresentations, inclination towards rational discussions and theological debates, frequency of trips of hadith scholars from different parts to this city and vice versa, and sufi tendencies in this center. The author of the present paper gives a brief account of hadith activities of this center up to the beginning of seventh century.
