وقيل له عليه السلام :
It was said to Amir al-mu'minin, peace be upon him, :
لو غيَّرتَ شيبك يا أميرالمؤمنين.
We wish you had changed your grey hair, O Amir al-Mu’minin.
فقال عليه السلام :
Then he said:
الْخِضَابُ زِينَةٌ،
Dye is a way of adornment
وَنَحْنُ قَوْمٌ فِي مُصِيبَةٍ!
while we are in a state of grief.
قال الرضي: يريد برسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله.
As-Sayyid ar-Radi says: Amir al-mu’minin, peace be upon him, is referring to the death of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him and his descendants.
