896. The Prophet (SA) said:
مَن أحَبَّني فَليُحِبَّ عَلِيّا ؛
“Whoever loves me, let him love Ali
ومَن أبغَضَ عَلِيّا فَقَد أبغَضَني ،
and whoever hates Ali has indeed hated me.
ومَن أبغَضَني فَقَد أبغَضَ اللّهَ عَزَّ وجَلَّ ،
Whoever hates me has indeed hated God‚ the Great and Almighty.
ومَن أبغَضَ اللّهَ أدخَلَهُ النّارَ .
Whoever hates God, He will make him go into the fire.”

897. The Prophet (SA) said:
يا عَلِيُّ ، طوبى لِمَن أحَبَّكَ وصَدَقَ فيكَ ،
“O Ali, blessed be he who loves you and is honest with you.
ووَيلٌ لِمَن أبغَضَكَ وكَذَبَ فيكَ .
Woe unto him who hates you and is dishonest with you.”

898. The Prophet (SA) said:
ألا إنَّ جَبرَئيل خَبَّرَني عَنِ اللّهِ تَعالى . . .
“ Indeed, Gabriel informed me from God‚ the Exalted…
ويَقولُ : مَن عادى عَلِيّا ولَم يَتَوَلَّهُ فَعَلَيه لَعنَتي وغَضَبي .
He said: ‘Whoever shows enmity to Ali and fails to befriend him, on him be My curse and My wrath.’ ”

899. The Prophet (SA) said:
مَعاشِرَ النّاسِ ،
“O people!
مَن أحَبَّ عَلِيّا أحببَتُهُ ،
Whoever loves Ali, I love him.
ومَن أبغَضَ عَلِيّا أبغَضتُهُ ،
Whoever hates Ali, I hate him.
ومَن وَصَلَ عَلِيّا وَصَلتُهُ ،
Whoever joins Ali, I join him.
ومَن قَطَعَ عَلِيّا قَطَعتُهُ ،
Whoever cuts off Ali, I cut off him.
ومَن جَفا عَلِيّا جَفَوتُهُ ،
Whoever shuns Ali, I shun him.
ومَن والى عَلِيّا والَيتُهُ ،
Whoever befriends Ali, I befriend him.
ومَن عادى عَلِيّا عادَيتُه .
Whoever shows enmity to Ali, I show enmity to him.”

900. عنه صلى الله عليه و آلهـ في حِجَّةِ الوَداعِ
900. The Prophet (SA) said, in the farewell pilgrimage
وهُوَ عَلى ناقَتِهِ ويَدُهُ عَلى مَنكِبِ عَلِيٍّ عليه السلام ـ:
while he was on his camel and his hand on ‘Ali’s shoulder:
اللّهُمَّ هَل بَلَّغتُ ؟
“O God, have I conveyed [the message]?
اللّهُمَّ هَل بَلَّغتُ ؟
O God, have I conveyed [the message]?
هذَا ابنُ عَمّي وأبو وُلدي ،
This is my cousin and father of my sons.
اللّهُمَّ كُبَّ مَن عاداهُ فِي النّارِ !
O God throw him who shows enmity to him into the fire!”

مَن حَسَدَ عَلِيّا حَسَدَني ،
“Whoever envies Ali has envied me,
ومَن حَسَدَني دَخَلَ النّارَ .
and whoever envies me enters the fire.”

902. مسند ابن حنبل عن عمرو بن شاس الأسلمي :
902. Musnad Ibn Hanbal, reporting from Amr ibn Shas al-Aslami, who said:
خَرَجتُ مَعَ عَلِيٍّ إلَى اليَمَنِ
“I went forth with Ali to Yemen;
فَجَفاني في سَفَري ذلِكَ
he shunned me on my journey
حَتّى وَجَدتُ في نَفسي عَلَيهِ ،
so that I had a grudge against him.
فَلَمّا قَدِمتُ
When we returned,
أظهَرتُ شِكايَتَهُ فِي المَسجِدِ
I expressed my annoyance towards him in the Mosque
حَتّى بَلَغَ ذلِكَ رَسولَ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله ،
until it reached the Messenger of God (SA).
فَدَخَلتُ المَسجِدَ ذاتَ غُدوَةٍ ورَسولُ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله في ناسٍ مِن أصحابِهِ ،
One morning I entered the mosque when the Messenger of God (SA) was with a number of his companions.
فَلَمَّا رَآني أبَدَّني عَينَيهِ ـ يَقولُ : حَدَّدَ إلَيَّ النَّظَرَ ـ
When he saw me, he stared at me.
حَتّى إذا جَلَستُ قالَ :
When I sat he said:
يا عَمرُو ، واللّهِ لَقَد آذَيتَني !
‘O Amr! By God, you have hurt me!’
قُلتُ : أعوذُ بِاللّهِ أن اُوذِيَكَ يا رَسولَ اللّهِ .
I said: I seek refuge in God lest I hurt you, O Messenger of God.
قالَ : بَلى ، مَن آذى عَلِيّا فَقَد آذاني .
He said: ‘Yes, whoever hurts Ali has indeed hurt me.’ ”

حُبُّ عَلِيٍّ إيمانٌ ،

يا عَلِيُّ ،

لا يُبالي مَن ماتَ وهُوَ يُبغِضُكَ ؛
Let him who dies filled with hatred towards you
ماتَ يَهودِيّا أو نَصرانِيّا .
die as a Jew or a Christian.”
