4. In the name of God, the Merciful the Compassionate. There is no god but God. He is One. He has no associate [beginning of the shahadah]. Unto Him belongeth sovereignty and unto Him belongeth praise. He quickeneth and He giveth death; and He is Able to do all things [conflation of 64:1 and 57:2]. Muhammad is the Messenger of God [completion of the shahadah], the blessing of God be on him. May He accept his intercession on the Day of Judgment on behalf of his people [blessing and prayer].
5. In the name of God, the Merciful the Compassionate. There is no god but God. He is One. He has no associate. Muhammad is the Messenger of God [the shahadah complete], the blessing of God be on him [blessing].
6. The servant of God ‘Abd [Allah the Imam al-Mamun, Commander] ^۱ of the Faithful, built this dome in the year two and seventy. May God accept from him and be content with him. Amen, Lord of the worlds, praise be to God [foundation notice].
With minor variations, these Quranic passages reflect the text as known from the standard Cairo edition, and it is possibly the existence of these inscriptions that led Mingana to propose that the original codification of the Quran had taken place during the caliphate, not of ‘Uthman, but of ‘Abd al-Malik.

4ـ «بِسْمِ الله الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ * لا اله الا الله وحده لا شريک له( آغاز شهادت)، لَهُ الْمُلْک وَ لَهُ الْحَمْدُ يحْيي وَ يميتُ وَ هُوَ عَلى کلِّ شَي ءٍ قَدير( ادغامي از آيه اول سوره تغابن و آيه دوم سوره حديد)، محمد رسول الله (تکميل شهادت)، درود و رحمت خدا بر او باد و اميدواريم که خداوند شفاعتش را در روز جزا براي مومنين قبول کند، ( سلام و صلوات).
5ـ بِسْمِ الله الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ * لا اله الا الله وحده لا شريک له محمد رسول الله (شهادت کامل) درود و رحمت خدا بر او باد (صلوات).
6ـ بنده خدا عبد (الله امام المأمون أمير) ^۲ المومنين اين قبه را در سال 72 ساخت. ان شاء الله خداوند از او پذيرفته و از او راضي باشد. امين رب العالمين الحمد لله. تابلوي بنا. »
اين عبارات قرآني با تغييراتي اندک، متن کنوني قرآن استاندارد چاپ قاهره را منعکس مي‌کند و احتمالاً وجود چنين کتيبه‌هايي بود که مينگانا را راهنمايي کرد تا پيشنهاد بدهد که تدوين اوليه قرآن در خلال خلافت عبدالملک ـ نه خلافت عثمان ـ اتفاق افتاد.
