679. The Criteria for Good and Evil

2062.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : إنّ الخَيرَ والشّرَّ لا يُعْرَفانِ إلّا بالنّاسِ ، فإذا أرَدتَ أنْ تَعرِفَ الخَيرَ فَاعْمَلِ الخَيرَ تَعرِفْ أهلَهُ ، و إذا أرَدتَ أنْ تَعرِفَ الشَّرَّ فاعْمَلِ الشَّرَّ تَعرِفْ أهلَهُ .¹

2062.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Verily good and evil can only be known through people, so if you want to know good then do good and you will know its people, and if you want to know evil then commit evil and you will know its people.' ²

678. PROHIBITION OF CONTEMPT FOR LITTLE GOOD

2060.الإمامُ عليٌّ عليه السلام : افْعَلوا الخَيرَ ولا تَحْقِرُوا مِنهُ شيئاً ؛ فإنَّ صَغيرَهُ كَبيرٌ ، وقَليلَهُ كَثيرٌ .¹

2060.Imam Ali (AS) said, 'Do good and do not underestimate it at all, for verily a little good is actually a lot and a small amount of it is much.' ²

2061.الإمامُ الصّادقُ عليه السلام : لا تُصَغِّرْ شيئاً مِن الخَيرِ ، فإنّكَ تَراهُ غداً حَيثُ يَسُرُّكَ .³

2061.Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'Do not belittle anything that is good, for verily you will see it tomorrow and it will make you happy.' ⁴
