أ ـ الحِقدُ
Malice
892. الإمام عليّ عليه السلام :
892. Imam Ali (AS) said:
كُلُّ حِقدٍ حَقَدَتهُ قُرَيشٌ عَلى رَسولِ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله
“Whatever malice Quraysh bore towards the Messenger of God (SA),
أظهَرَتهُ فِيَّ ،
they manifested it towards me
وسَتُظهِرُهُ في وُلدي مِن بَعدي .
and they will manifest it towards my children after me.
ما لي ولِقُرَيشٍ !
What do I have with Quraysh!
إنَّما وَتَرتُهُم بِأَمرِ اللّهِ وأمرِ رَسولِهِ ،
Indeed, I fought them by the command of God and His Messenger.
أفَهذا جَزاءُ مَن أطاعَ اللّهَ ورَسولَهُ إن كانوا مُسلِمينَ ؟ !
Is this the recompense for him who obeyed God and His Messenger, should they be Muslims?”

893. معرفة الصحابة عن ابن عبّاس :
893. Marifah al-Sahabah, reporting from Ibn Abbas. who said:
قالَ عُثمانُ لِعَلِيٍّ :
“Uthman said to Ali:
ما ذَنبي إن لَم تُحِبُّكَ قُرَيشٌ وقَد قَتَلتَ مِنهُم سَبعينَ رَجُلاً ؛
‘What is my sin if Quraysh does not love you, when you have killed seventy of their men,
كَأَنَّ وُجوهَهُم سُيوفُ الذَّهَبِ ؟
whose faces were like golden swords?’ ”

ب ـ الحَسَدُ

894. شرح نهج البلاغة :جاءَ في تَفسيرِ قَولِهِ تَعالى :
894. Sharh Nahj al-Balagha, relates: “In the commentary on His words:
«أَمْ يَحْسُدُونَ النَّاسَ عَلَى مَآ ءَاتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِن فَضْلِهِ» النساء : 54 .
“Or do they envy the people for what God has given them out of His grace?”, Quran, 4: 54.
أنَّها اُنزِلَت في عَلِيٍّ عليه السلام وما خُصَّ بِهِ مِنَ العِلمِ .
it was revealed concerning Ali (AS) and the knowledge he was distingwished with.”

895. الإمام عليّ عليه السلامـ مِن كِتابٍ لَهُ إلى عَقيلٍ ـ:
895. Imam Ali (AS) said in his letter to Aqil:
ألا وإنَّ العَرَبَ قَدِ اجتَمَعَت عَلى حَربِ أخيكَ اليَومَ
“Know that the Arabs assembled to wage war against your brother today
اجتِماعَها عَلى حَربِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه و آله قَبلَ اليَومِ ،
as they assembled against the Prophet (SA) yesterday,
فَأَصبَحوا قَد جَهِلوا حَقَّهُ وجَحِدوا فَضلَهُ .
so they came to disregard his right and deny his virtue.”
