وسئل عن القدر، فقال:
Amir al-mu'minin, peace be upon him, was asked about Destiny, when he said:
طَرِيقٌ مُظْلِمٌ
It is a dark path –
فَلاَ تَسْلُكُوهُ،
do not tread upon it,
وَبَحْرٌعَمِيقٌ
it is a deep ocean –
فَلاَ تَلِجُوهُ،
do not dive in it,
وَسِرُّ اللهِ
and it is the secret of Allah –
فَلاَ تَتَكَلَّفُوهُ.
do not take trouble about (knowing) it.
