وَقَالَ (عليه السلام):
Amir al-mu'minin, peace be upon him, said:
إِنَّ أَوْلِيَاءَ اللهِ
Lovers of Allah are those
هُمُ الَّذِينَ نَظَرُوا إِلَى بَاطِنِ الدُّنْيَا
who look at the inward side of the world
إِذَا نَظَرَ النَّاسُ إِلَى ظَاهِرِهَا،
while others look at its outward side,
وَاشْتَغَلُوا بِآجِلِهَا
they busy themselves with remoter benefits
إِذَا آشْتَغَلَ النَّاسُ بِعَاجِلِهَا،
while others busy themselves in immediate benefits.
فَأَمَاتُوا مِنْهَا مَا خَشُوا أَنْ يُمِيتَهُمْ
They kill those things which they feared would have killed them,
وَتَرَكُوا مِنْهَا مَا عَلِمُوا أَنَّهُ سَيَتْرُكُهُمْ،
and leave here in this world what they think would leave them.
وَرَأَوُا اسْتِكْثَارَ غَيْرِهِمْ مِنْهَا اسْتِقْلالاً،
They took amassing of wealth by others as a small matter
وَدَرَكَهُمْ لَهَا فَوْتاً،
and regarded it like losing.
أَعْدَاءُ مَا سَالَمَ النَّاسُ، وَسِلْمُ مَا عَادَى النَّاسُ!
They are enemies of things others love while love things which others hate.
بِهِمْ عُلِمَ الْكِتَابُ وَبِهِ عُلِمُوا
Through them, Quran has been learnt and they have been given knowledge through Quran.
وَبِهِمْ قَامَ الْكِتَابُ وَبِهِ قَامُوا،
Through them Quran is established while through the Quran they are established.
لاَ يَرَوْنَ مَرْجُوّاً فَوْقَ مَا يَرْجُونَ،
They do not see any object of hope above what they hope
وَلاَ مَخُوفاً فَوْقَ مَا يَخَافُونَ.
and no object of fear above what they fear.
