659. Al-Mujam al-Kabir, reporting from Umm Salama, who said:
كانَ عَلِيٌّ عَلَى الحَقِّ ؛
“Ali was on the Truth;
مَنِ اتَّبَعَهُ اتَّبَعَ الحَقَّ ،
whoever befriends him has followed the truth
ومَن تَرَكَهُ تَرَكَ الحَقَّ ،
and whoever abandons him has abandoned the truth.
عَهدا مَعهودا قَبلَ يَومِهِ هذا .
That is a firm covenant taken before.”

660. Al-Tarikh al-Kabir, reporting from A’isha, who said:
أعلَمُ النّاسِ بِالسُّنَّةِ عَلِيُّ بنُ أبي طالِبٍ عليه السلام .
“The most knowledgeable person about the Sunnah is Ali ibn Abi Talib (AS).”

661. خصائص أمير المؤمنين عن جميع بن عمير:
661. Khasais Amir al-Muminin, reporting from Jami‘ ibn Umayr, who said:
دَخَلتُ مَعَ اُمّي عَلى عائِشَةَ ،
“I visited A’isha with my mother,
فَسَمِعتُها تَسأَلُها مِن وَراءِ الحِجابِ عَن عَلِيٍّ عليه السلام ،
and I heard her inquire about Ali (AS) from behind the curtain.
فَقالَت :
A’isha said:
تَسأَليني عَن رَجُلٍ ما أعلَمُ أحَدا كانَ أحَبَّ إلى رَسولِ اللّهِ صلى الله عليه و آله مِنهُ
‘You ask me about a man than whom I know no one dearer to the Messenger of God,
ولا أحَبَّ إلَيهِ مِنِ امرَأَتِهِ ؟ !
nor is there anyone dearer to him than his wife.’ ”
